CHARLESTON S.C. - The CSU women's soccer team lost to The Citadel Saturday at Buccaneer Field by a score of 4-1. The loss drops CSU to a record of 4-4-0 and The Citadel improves to a record of 4-3-1.

The match was wide open throughout, but it wasn't until the 36th minute that a goal was scored. Amy Loughran took advantage of a misplayed ball played into the box and scored on high shot past the keeper.

CSU freshman Toni Lashley scored her first career goal. She scored late in the second half when a perfectly measured long ball was played into space by fellow freshman Emma Krantz. A streaking Lashley then touched it around the keeper and scored the slow roller for the Bucs' only goal.

The Bulldogs outshot the Bucs 29 to 20 on the day, 16 of which were on frame. The Citadel drew a season high 11 saves from CSU goalkeeper Amy Arroyo. Despite the scoreline, Arroyo had one of her best outings of the year, making consecutive saves on several frantic sequences in the back.

The Citadel's Amy Loughran had a hat trick for the Bulldogs this afternoon, tallying a total of seven shots on goal. Her best goal was a header she flicked far post off a ball sent across the face of goal.

The Bucs look to rebound when they continue their home stand on Tuesday with a 4 p.m. match against South Carolina State.
