Buccaneers Take On Catamounts
11/14/2011 12:00:00 AM | Women's Basketball
CHARLESTON, S.C. - After grabbing two very good wins at home against Furman and Southern Wesleyan, Coach Julie Goodenough looks to take her ball club on the road to the mountains of North Carolina to take on Western Carolina in Cullowhee, N.C., Monday night November 14 with a 7 p.m. tip-off time.
SERIES HISTORY
Monday evening's game will mark the fourth meeting between the Charleston Southern and the Western Carolina Catamounts, Western leads the series 3-0.
CSU has not faced the Catamounts in a number of years but having yet another SoCon opponent on their schedule will prove vital to the Buccaneers. Western Carolina has been a strong SoCon team in years past and after beating in state rival Furman this weekend Coach Julie Goodenough looks to take her ball club on the road to get some good road trip experience.
WCU CONNECTION
Charleston Southern has no real connection with Western Carolina. Buccaneer sophomore Kirklin Kirkpatrick is from the Western Carolina area and will definitely bring a Buccaneer following to Cullowhee. Being that WCU beat Furman last year and the Buccaneers knocked off the Paladins already this season, Monday's game looks to be a barn burner.
THE BUCCANEERS VS THE SoCon
In addition to four meetings with Western Carolina, the
Buccaneers have played 114 games against SoCon opponents. Coach
Goodenough believes that the SoCon is a parallel to the Big South
so getting SoCon teams on her schedule will aid the Buccaneers in
conference play.
