LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Buccaneers were held scoreless in all but one inning as the Liberty Flames earned the 5-2 win in the series finale to sweep the Bucs 3-0 at Worthington Stadium in Lynchburg, Va., on Sunday afternoon.

The loss puts the Bucs at 10-11 overall and 0-3 in the Big South. They will host Coppin State in a nonconference match up on Tuesday at CSU Ballpark in Charleston. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.

The CSU bats were again no match for Liberty's solid pitching, as Steven Evans struck out 12 and gave up two earned runs off of six hits in 9.0 innings.

Tom Burkett was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, while Brantley Meier was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Drew Woodall was 1-for-3 and scored one of the Bucs' two runs.

Jesse Cadenhead took the loss for CSU, giving up five earned runs and five hits in 6.0 innings. He falls to 1-2 on the season. Charlie McCready faced eight batters in relief, giving up just one hit. Tyler Vick also saw action on the mound, giving up no hits and no runs while striking out one.

Michael Robertson was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI for the Flames. Tyler Bream was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI, as was Casey Rasmus.

This time it was the Flames who would get on the board first, with Rasmus scoring on a sacrifice bunt by Robertson to give LU an early 1-0 lead. In the next inning, Bream singled up the middle to score Ian Parmley, putting the Flames up 2-0. Bream then crossed the plate soon after when Rasmus singled up the middle to give Liberty a 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the second.

The Bucs struggled to find their offense, remaining scoreless until a triple by Burkett drove Woodall home to put CSU on the board at 3-1 in the fifth inning. Meier then singled to the pitcher to bring Burkett home to make the score 3-2. Though the Bucs were in reach, they were unable to play catch up.

Liberty added to the damage in the sixth inning, as Robertson hit a two-run homer to give the Flames the 5-2 win.
