CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern claimed a 6-1 victory over Presbyterian College in a Big South women's tennis match Saturday, March 26 at the Buccaneer Tennis Center. The Buccaneers have now won four out of their five home matches this season.

With the win, CSU levels its record at 6-6, including a 3-2 mark in Big South play with two conference matches remaining. Presbyterian falls to 8-10 on the season, 0-3 in conference competition.

CSU earned victory at all three doubles flights and in five out of six singles matches on the day.

The Bucs totaled the first point of the match by winning each of three doubles contests. The No. 1 pair of Olga Makhova and Marija Dzakovic improved to 4-1 in Big South play with an 8-2 win over Pam Oelke and Christina Limantoro. Angie Torres and Alexandra Walters defeated Courtney Gardiner and Lindsay Krause in the No. 2 match, 8-3. Brooke Pletcher and Alia Nour claimed victory over Patricia Alves and Cara Caruso, 8-3.

Makhova earned her seventh singles win of the season, advancing to 4-1 at No. 1 singles in conference play with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Oelke. The No. 2 match, between Dzakovic and Limantoro, lasted three sets, with Dzakovic winning, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Nour, a freshman competing at No. 3 singles, defeated Gardiner in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. The win was her seventh this year, and fourth in five Big South matches.

The Blue Hose recorded their lone team point of the day with a 6-4, 6-2 victory by Alves over Pletcher at No. 4 singles.

Torres registered her first conference singles victory of the season, downing Caruso, 6-4, 6-3. Walters bested Krause in the sixth flight, 6-2, 6-2.

The Bucs will play each of their next four matches away from Charleston, beginning with a match Thursday, March 31 at UNC-Greensboro. Presbyterian will next play host to Coastal Carolina Wednesday, March 30.
