CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern women's tennis team honored its seniors Saturday, and the Buccaneers then took the courts and defeated Campbell, 5-2, at the Buccaneer Tennis Center. Seniors Brooke Pletcher and Angie Torres each posted singles victories in their last home match at CSU.

The Buccaneers level their season record to 8-8 with the victory, including an impressive 5-1 finish in home matches. Campbell concludes its regular season with a 13-7 record. The Camels clinched the second seed in the Atlantic Sun Championship with a win over USC Upstate Friday.

CSU won five out of six singles matches against the Camels after CU won two out of three doubles contests.

Campbell opened the match by taking the first point available, going 2-1 in doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. CU's Lisa Sutton and Dominek Wallaart won at No. 1 doubles, 8-2, over Torres and Heather Isbell. The No. 2 doubles team of Borislava Nikolova and Karolina Chaernaya defeated Olga Makhova and Marija Dzakovic, 8-5.

CSU earned one doubles victory, as Alia Nour and Pletcher bested Anais Gomar and Heather Robinson, 8-3.

The Buccaneers won the first three completed singles matches to claim a 3-1 edge. Torres downed Natasha Afridi in straight sets at No. 6 singles. Freshman Alexandra Walters won by a 6-1, 6-1 score over Gomar in the fifth flight. Nour, a freshman, downed Robinson, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.

Chernaya earned a two-set win over Isbell in the No. 2 match, with the second set going to a tiebreaker. Chernaya's win brought the team score to 3-2.

Makhova clinched the match victory for CSU with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Sutton. Makhova win was her 10th at singles this season. Pletcher then closed the match by beating Nikolova, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 to seal the 5-2 team win.

The Buccaneers return to action Tuesday, April 12, when the team travels to Greenville, N.C. to take on East Carolina at 2 p.m. The Camels will next compete in the Atlantic Sun Championship, hosted April 14-16 at Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.
