LEXINGTON, VA - After a nine-run outing on Wednesday, the CSU offense stalled and the third-seeded Buccaneers dropped a 6-1 contest to the No. 2 Liberty Flames in the 2011 Royal Purple Big South Championship Presented by Triangle Rent a Car on Wednesday evening at Gray-Minor Stadium in Lexington, Va.

Due to the tournament's double-elimination format, the Buccaneers will get another chance to advance when they take on No. 5 Gardner-Webb at 11 a.m. on Friday. The winner of that match up will play again at 7 p.m., facing the loser of the Coastal Carolina/Liberty game.

Despite a few early runs, starting pitcher Jesse Cadenhead (4-6) had a solid outing for the Bucs by giving up four runs off seven hits and striking out five.

Blake Hunt was the lone CSU batter with a multiple hit game, going 2-for-3 and recording the only RBI of the night. Matt Still was 1-for-3 on the night while Nick Chinners, Jaren Sustar and Derek Smith each had a hit as the Bucs were out-hit by the Flames 11-6.

Starter Keegan Linza picked up his 11th win of the season, giving up one run off six hits and striking out seven while pitching a complete game. Doug Bream was 4-for-4 with a team-leading three RBI. Casey Rasmus and Ian Parmley had two hits apiece, with Parmley scoring three of LU's six runs.

The Flames struck first, scoring two runs in each of the first two innings. A two run-homer by Bream put LU up 2-0 in the bottom of the first before Rasmus and Parmley each added a run in the bottom of the second to give the Flames the early 4-0 lead.

Cadenhead did not give up a run for the next three innings before giving way to Kyle Ward, who finished off the last two batters of the sixth inning. Williams and Bream then hit back-to-back singles in the bottom of the seventh to score Haley and Parmley, putting the Liberty lead at 6-0.

The Bucs put their first run of the night on the board in the top of the eighth. Still hit his team-leading 19th double of the season before a single from Hunt sent him home. However it was too little, too late for CSU as they took the 6-1 loss.
