MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. - Three Charleston Southern players are in
the Top 10 and CSU sits in second place after 36 holes at the 2012
Wendy's Invitational, played Monday at Rivetowne Country Club.
CSU, the host for the event, finished with totals of 304 (+16)
and 293 (+5) in its two rounds. The Lady Bucs trail Richmond (587)
by 10 strokes and leads Wofford (604) by seven heading into
Tuesday's final round. Appalachian State (607) is fourth and
Armstrong Atlantic State (610) is fifth.
"I'm really pleased with how the team competed today," CSU
Director of Golf Mike Wilson said Monday evening. "They have shown
the ability to shoot good scores all fall, and are in contention to
compete for the title tomorrow. Once again I would like to thank
Wendy's and Mike Guinta and Rivertowne Country Club for putting on
such a quality event."
Seniors Amanda D'Ostroph is fifth after posting a 73 (+1) and a
72 (E) on Monday. Her 72 in the afternoon was driven by a pair of
birdies on a 1-under 35 on the front nine. She had five birdies on
the day.
D'Ostroph is three strokes back of Armstrong Atlantic State's
Jenna Birch, who fired a 68 (-4) in the opening round and Western
Carolina's Maria Kjelldorff, who had a 67 in the afternoon for the
day's lowest round. Both are at 2-under par. Richmond's Courtney
Rousse and Tracy Martin are tied for third at 1-under.
Fellow senior Katelyn Bensch is seventh and rallied from an
opening round 76 (+4) to fire a 71 (-1) in the afternoon. She was
one of three Lady Bucs to finish at even-par or better in the
afternoon. She poured in four birdies in her afternoon round.
Freshman Casey MacNeil had the lowest round of her young career
with a 1-under 71. The freshman took advantage of the soft
conditions and three of her final seven holes move under par on the
round. She shot a 77 in the morning's round.
Junior Vanessa Jay is tied for 30th after her two rounds. She
shot a 78 on her morning round and an 80 in the afternoon, while
fellow junior Torey Johnson is tied for 37th after a 78 and an
80.
Playing as an individual, CSU's Viktoria Enhager is tied for
