CHARLESTON, S.C. - A late second half goal by Kirsty Meyer gave the visiting Fighting Camels the 1-0 victory in Big South Conference play as Campbell topped Charleston Southern on Senior Day at Buccaneer Field on Saturday morning.

Seniors Melissa Adams, Rebecca Hollstegge and Morgann Wood were recognized during the halftime Senior Day festivities on their final home weekend as the Lady Bucs (6-10-1, 4-6 BSC) will take on Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, October 23rd, at Buccaneer Field, with kickoff in the season finale set for 3 p.m.

Meyer scored the go-ahead goal for Campbell (10-6-1, 5-5 BSC) in the 75th minute, receiving the pass from Ashley Clark inside the box and fired the ball into the net past the defensive pressure for the lone score in the contest to give the visiting Fighting Camels the victory.

Campbell came out firing in the first half, recording 15 shots to the Lady Bucs seven as Michelle Procaccini targeted the net on four of CU's first five shots, but Charleston Southern goalkeeper Caitlin Cody was up to the task with three saves in the early going to keep the match scoreless.

Toni Lashley recorded the opening shot for the Buccaneers at the 1:51 mark on the clock, but pushed her attempt left, while Morgann Wood's header was collected by Campbell keeper Alexis Connors as the teams remained scoreless through the first 15 minutes.

The Fighting Camels continued to pressure the Lady Bucs defense as five different players attempted shots in the first half but the CSU defense held Campbell at bay as Cody recorded six saves by the break to keep the match knotted up at 0-0 at the half.

Charleston Southern had the first scoring opportunity in the second half as Hollstegge charged into the box at the 48:02 mark in the period, but her header attempt sailed over the crossbar, while Alexis Prada and Meyer continued to lead the Camels attack.

Campbell broke the seal on the net at the 74:16 mark as Kellsey Costello-Mays crossed the ball into the box to Clark. Clark tapped it back to Meyer and the redshirt-senior put a shot through a hole in the Charleston Southern defense into the back of the net for the first goal in the contest.

CSU continued to battle back through the final 15 minutes as Gina Cox struck a free kick toward the net that Connors corralled. Chloe Urig attempted a shot from the top of the box that sailed left, while Hannah Thomas' header from six yards out off a corner kick was pushed wide left as the Campbell defense held.

Toni Lashley had the final shot attempt in the game for the Lady Bucs, putting an attempt on goal with 54 seconds remaining, but Connors was up to the task with her eighth save of the game in recording the shutout.

Charleston Southern closes out the 2012 regular season at home on Tuesday afternoon against Coastal Carolina, with kickoff at 3:30 p.m. Campbell is also back in action on Tuesday as the Fighting Camels host High Point in their season finale at Buies Creek, N.C. with kickoff at 7 p.m.
