CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern's (4-4) bats were cooled off with the weather on Sunday as Marshall (3-4) held the Bucs to just four hits in an 8-2 victory at CSU Ballpark.

Bobby Ison, John Faircloth, Blake Hunt and Drew Woodall all collected hits for CSU in the game. With his single, Ison now has an eight-game hitting streak.

The Herd jumped on Buccaneer starter Kevin Buran in the first inning. Leadoff man Issac Ballou was hit by a pitch to start the frame. Andrew Dundon followed him with a single to right and Nathan Gomez followed that with another single to score Ballou, giving Marshall a 1-0 lead.

Buran (0-1) took the loss on the mound for CSU, allowing four runs on six hits in 1 2/3 innings of work.

In all, six pitchers saw action for the Bucs. Kyle Ward threw a scoreless 2 1/3 innings of relief. Brennan Dorsett and Matt Witt also threw one scoreless inning each.

The Bucs got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Faircloth drew a one out walk and advanced to third on an errant pickoff throw from Herd starter Josh King (1-0). Hunt then reached on an error by Marshall second baseman Sergio Leon, scoring Faircloth from third and cutting the lead to 4-1.

With Marshall leading 6-1 in the sixth, Brian Welch got things going for CSU by drawing a walk. After advancing to second on a groundout and to third on a balk, Welch would score on a Faircloth infield single to trim the deficit to 6-2.

The Thundering Herd tacked on two more in the ninth off Buccaneer reliever Evan Still to end the scoring.

Charleston Southern is back on the diamond this Wednesday when they head to Davidson to face the Wildcats in a non-conference battle. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Wilson Field.
