A win on Wednesday for Charleston Southern would match the program's longest win streak since the Bucs won nine-consecutive games in the 1994-1995 season. The school's longest win streak came during the 1986-1987 season when the Bucs won their first ten Big South games en route to finishing as regular season champions with a 12-2 record in conference. The 86-87 title is the last time Charleston Southern won the regular season Big South crown.

Charleston Southern is coming off a hard-fought road-win (79-75) over Liberty on Saturday. The victory gave head coach of the Bucs, Barclay Radebaugh 100 wins in his CSU-career. Sophomore point guard, Saah Nimley led the way with 23 points and a career-high six threes four days after dropping a career-high 26 points against Presbyterian. Nimley was selected as the Big South Player of the Week averaging 24.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in his last two games.

Gardner-Webb will try to be the first team to hand the Bucs a conference-loss. Radebaugh spoke on Gardner-Webb earlier in the week, "Gardner-Webb is an extremely well-coached team. They play as hard as anybody we have played this year. Their overall intensity is the strength of their team."

The Runnin' Bulldogs have had a strong season and are coming off a win on the road against VMI on Saturday (63-49). "We're expecting a very tough game. They beat DePaul and lost to Illinois on a last-second shot. They played extremely well on Saturday against VMI. We know we have our hands full. We'll have to play our very best to be able to compete with them."

Gardner-Webb is led by 6' 6" sophomore, Donta Harper. In his freshman-campaign, Harper played in every game but only averaged 5.2 points per game. This season, Harper is up to 13.5 points per game to lead the team.

"Donta Harper drives the ball extremely well. He's very long and that will create a matchup problem for us," Barclay mentioned.

The game on Wednesday will feature two of the top rebounding team's in the Big South. Charleston Southern grabs the most rebounds per game (39.4) while sitting second in conference in rebounding-margin at plus-4.4. Liberty, last Saturday, was only the fifth team to outrebound the Bucs this season. Only two times have the Bucs been significantly outrebounded (College of Charleston by 12, Wichita State by 17). Like Charleston Southern, no player for Gardner-Webb averages over seven rebounds per game (Kevin Hartley leads with 6.5 per game), but the Bulldogs are still third in the league with a plus-3.5 rebounding-margin.

The Bucs continue to drain threes at a prolific pace leading the country with 9.6 threes made per game. Charleston Southern is on pace to make 269 three-pointers at the end of the regular season. The CSU-record for three-pointers made in a season is 277 set during the 2007-2008 campaign.

Several Buccaneers continue to show up among the leaders in the Big South. Nimley is sixth in the league averaging 15.4 points per game and second with 5.6 assister per game. In conference matchups, Nimley is averaging 16.7 points (fifth), 7.1 assists (first) and 6.9 rebounds (ninth). Arlon Harper is averaging 14.8 points per game (seventh in the Big South). Jeremy Sexton is averaging 20.3 points in his last four games while finishing in double-figures in seven of the last eight contests.

Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb split a pair of meetings last season. Gardner-Webb won the first game in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. The Bucs trailed by ten before rallying back and taking a lead in the second half. Gardner-Webb scored the final six points of the game to win 80-77. Harper went 4-of-6 from downtown and finished with 18 points for the Bucs.

The second meeting saw CSU take down Gardner-Webb in the Buc Dome 73-58. Four different players for CSU finished in double-figures. Mathiang Muo led the way by hitting five three-pointers and finishing with a game-high 21 points. No one finished in double-figures for Gardner-Webb.

Wednesday will be the 13th all-time meeting between the Bucs and the Bulldogs. Gardner-Webb leads the all-time series, 9-3.
