Bucs sweep Presbyterian, 7-0; Das wins twice on Senior Day

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern women's tennis made Susita Das' Senior Day one to remember as the Buccaneers swept visiting Presbyterian College on Friday afternoon at the CSU Tennis Complex, downing the Blue Hose in both doubles and singles in taking the 7-0 win.

Das was victorious in both of her matches on Friday, combining with Marketa Placha to win on court no. 3 in doubles play as the CSU combo defeated Haley Elliot and Lucia Leahy, 8-5. In singles action, the Bhunbaneswar, India, native defeated her opponent in straight sets, winning 6-3, 6-2 over Elliot for the win.

Charleston Southern improves to 8-4 overall, 4-0 in Big South Conference play with the win, while Presbyterian falls to 7-9, 0-3 in Big South action on the year.

The Buccaneers and Blue Hose opened up the afternoon in doubles competition with Charleston Southern picking up the first point of the match in sweeping Presbyterian on all three courts.

Angelica Sidorenko and Alia Nour defeated the PC team of Patricia Alves and Greer Ransom on court no. 1, 8-6, while Alexandra Walters and Yvonne Hubler defeated Caroline deLoach and Kayla Standford on court no. 2, 8-4.

Das and Placha made the sweep official with their 8-5 win over Leahy and Elliot on court no. 3.

Heading into singles play, Charleston Southern won all six matches in straight sets in closing out the 7-0 win.

Placha topped Ransom on court no. 1, 6-2, 6-2, while Hubler defeated Alves 6-2, 6-1 on court no. 2. On court no. 3, Sidorenko battled through deLoach, winning 6-3, 6-4 in the match.

Walters and Nour remained undefeated in Big South Conference play with wins on courts no. 4 and 5 as the CSU athletes both improved to 4-0 in conference action. Walters defeated Stanford on court no. 4, 6-0, 6-1, while Nour swept past Leahy with a 6-0, 6-0 victory, with Das' win on court no. 6 closing out the singles' scores.

Charleston Southern remains in Big South Conference play this weekend, traveling to UNC Asheville on Sunday afternoon, while Presbyterian remains on the road in conference action, traveling to Longwood on Sunday. Both CSU - Asheville and Presbyterian - Longwood are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
