CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern fell behind early and could never get its bats going in a 15-1 loss to College of Charleston at a blustery and cold CSU Ballpark on Wednesday afternoon.

The Cougars piled up 15 hits and took advantage of eight walks and two hit batsmen but the Bucs in the win. The Bucs also allowed five unearned runs.

Despite clear skies, College of Charleston did a better of managing brutal playing conditions, which included wind gusts over 30 mph.

Even when CSU caught some breaks in a sloppy game, things still didn't go their way.

The Bucs fell behind 9-0 and started to get some momentum going as the Cougars gave up an unearned run on a throwing error and CSU strung together a signle from Jaren Sustar and a double by John Faircloth, which scored Bobby Ison. Sustar also tried to score on Faircloth's shot into the right field corner, but was punched out on a play at the plate despite appearing to slide in ahead of the tag.

Freshman Andrew Tomasovich (LP, 0-2) took the loss for the Bucs, while Griffin Jones (WP, 1-0) won his first start of the season.

The Cougars built a big early lead scoring in four of the game's first five innings. Right fielder Cody Martin had a two-run single for the Cougars in the third inning. CofC would pile on five runs in the fourth as Bradley Goodson had an RBI double.

Goodsen had a game-high three hits, going 3-for-5. Faircloth led the Bucs with two hits.
