CHARLESTON, S.C. - The
Charleston Southern Buccaneers committed five errors and Coastal
Carolina starter Seth Lamando held the Bucs to five hits in a 6-2
CCU win on Friday night at CSU Ballpark.
The Bucs fall to 22-31 overall and 11-12 in Big South play.
Coastal moves to 34-19 overall and 17-6 in league play. Coastal is
locked into the No. 2 seed in next week's Big South Tournament. CSU
is in the tournament field and could be seeded anywhere from sixth
to eighth.

Highlights
Coastal came out bunting against the Bucs and starter Tory
Schroff (LP, 6-4), catching an early break on a pop-up turned
double for an early 2-0 lead. Two CSU errors in the second gave CCU
a 5-0 lead through an inning and a half.
Lamando (WP, 5-3) made the early margin stand up, holding the
Bucs to two solo home runs and just five hits in 7.1 innings of
work. He struck out four.
Coastal jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first on a pop-up double
from Jake Kane. Kane scored Jacob May, who reached on a bunt single
and Alex Buccilli who walked, to give the Chants the lead. Kane's
popup found a hole in between Bucs' first baseman Robbie Streett
and right fielder Chase Shelton along the right field line to score
both runs.
Coastal added to the lead in the second with a pair of unearned
runs on two fielding error and an RBI double from Ted Blackman to
extend the lead to 5-0.
CSU's came on a solo home run from Robbie Street in the second
and another blast from Chase Shelton in the fourth to cut the lead
to 5-2, but could never mount a series threat against Lamando.
The Bucs' Stephen Leopard pitched well for a third-straight
outing, holding Coastal to an earned run in five innings of
work.
Kane finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Chants, while
Streett was 2-for-3 for the Bucs.
The two teams plays the rubber game of the series at 2 p.m. at
CSU Ballpark. The Bucs will honor 10 seniors before the game.
