JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Charleston Southern finished a solid fourth with a final round 309 on Tuesday afternoon at the Jacksonville University Classic, played at Marsh Landing Country Club.
CSU (+43) finished one stroke ahead of Jacksonville (+44) and three ahead of Boston Univ. Coastal Carolina (+10) won the event by 23 strokes over second-place Troy. North Florida was third.
Sophomore Shelby Thompson shook off a rough Monday to card the second-lowest round of her career. She shot a 71 (-1) with four birdies. Last week's Wendy's Invitational champion was 2-under on the front nine.
Fellow sophomore Bella Johnson shot her third-straight 75 (+3) to finish 16th. She had three birdies in her round.
Freshman Hayley McNeill struggled with a 79 (+7) to finish 11th, the best finish of her career.
Sophomore Hannah Barger, playing as an individual, had her best finish as a Buc. She tied for 20th with 13 pars in her final round.
Freshmen Emelie Flink and Milleina Ohara were 58th and 59th respectively in the almost 100-player field.
CSU finished ahead of Maryland, Western Carolina, Stetson, and USC Upstate among others in the 12-team field.
Daytona State College and Seminole State College also competed in the event, but do not count in final standings.
The Buccaneers wrap up their fall schedule Oct. 26-28 at the Palmetto Intercollegiate played on Kiawah Island at Turtle Point Golf Course.
