CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and pull away from Charleston Southern for a 9-2 win on Wednesday afternoon at CSU Ballpark.

The Cougars' Brandon Glazer had a bases-loaded double off the left field wall and Ben Boykin added an RBI single to fuel the decisive at-bat. College of Charleston improves to 16-4 overall, while CSU is now 14-8.

CofC scored eight times in its final four at-bats to put the game out of reach. Glazer finished with three RBI and Carl Wise added a 2-for-3 day with two runs and two RBI for the Cougars.

The Bucs tied the game at 1-1 in the fifth on one of two RBI singles from Bobby Ison in the game. He finished 2-for-3. 

CSU's Tyler Weekley and Joe Pistacchio combined to hold the Cougars to one run and one hit through five innings before CofC broke through in the sixth off of reliever Andrew Locklear (LP, 1-3). Pistacchio had four strikeouts in three innings of work.

The Cougars took a 1-0  lead in the first as Blake Butler reached on a leadoff walk and scored on a sacrifice fly from Brandon Murray. Bobby Ison's throw from centerfield was on line and in time, but hopped up on Bucs' catcher Sam Remick as Butler slid under the tag. 

Ison tied the game in the fourth, following a Tomasovich double into the corner with a line drive into centerfield to make it 1-1.

CofC's Nathan Helvey (WP, 2-1) allowed four hits in two innings, but allowed just one run to pick up the win.

Charleston Southern opens a three-game series with Radford on Friday. First pitch is at 6 p.m. at CSU Ballpark.
