CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charleston Southern junior Caleb Breeden finished in the top half of a competitive field to lead the way on Friday at the Royals Cross Country Challenge, hosted by Queens University.
Breeden has paced the Bucs in every race this season, and did once again with a time of 27:52.6 on the 8k course. That was good for 167th place in a 39-team field that included programs from throughout the Southeast. Campbell University won the event as a team.
Senior Kuaniyal Chol was the other top finisher for CSU and assistant coach for distance and jumps Sirena Williams, crossing the finish line in 29:17.9. Junior Harrison Huntley also performed well, finishing the course in 30:07.0. Caleb Edgehill was close behind with a time of 31:04.0
"We had some big performances across the board with our men," Williams said afterward. "Everybody ran fast and PR'd. It was a great course with some great competition. Everyone's dropping and brought their time down. Harrison has been dropping every race so I'm really proud of him. Everyone is running well and doing the right things heading into conference so I'm looking forward to what's ahead."
Freshmen Gerald Bolton and Chris Fludd-Clark also competed for the Bucs. CSU returns to action next Friday, competing locally in Johns Island at the College of Charleston Classic.
