CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern junior Caleb Breeden ran to an 11th place finish to pace the Bucs on Saturday at the Will Wilson Cross Country Invitational. The event was held locally at James Island County Park.

Breeden turned in a time of 29:23.61 to finish ninth among collegiate runners in the field, and continue a solid campaign. CSU finished fourth as a team with 88 points. The Citadel second first place team honors with 24 points.
"The Citadel guys helped pull me through and I ran at a really good pace for most of the race," said Breeden afterward. "I faded off a little bit toward the end but other than that, it was a good race. I definitely had some competition that drove to a pretty good time."
CSU senior Kuaniyal Chol was the next top finisher for assistant coach for distance and jumps Sirena Williams' team, running in 31:20.69 to finish 20th. Caleb Edgehill and Harrison Huntley also worked their way into the top half of the field with respective times of 31:38.05 and 31:51.98. Freshman Gerald Bolton and Chris Fludd-Clark also ran for the Bucs. Williams is looking forward to what lies ahead for CSU with the Big South Championships just over a month away.
"We're at the halfway point right now so I'm looking forward to see them continue to push hard in practice and improve," Williams said. "There are folks that are dropping seconds and minutes off each week. We just need to keep getting faster so we can hone it in at conference time."
CSU gets a taste of the conference championship course next Saturday at the Big South Cross Country Preview Meet. The event will be hosted by USC Upstate in Spartanburg.
