Box Score

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb's Brad Haymes pitched a five-hit shutout and outdueled Charleston Southern's Evan Raynor in a 1-0 shutout on Friday night at John H. Moss Stadium.

Haymes (W, 8-1) tossed a complete-game shutout and struck out 10 Buccaneers in the win. CSU's Raynor (L, 4-4) worked eight innings, surrendering seven hits and striking out seven. Raynor and Haymes both allowed five hits.

CSU's Kevin Hickey was a perfect 3 for 3. Brandon Gragilla added a double in the seventh, but was picked off at second with no outs, spoiling a scoring opportunity for the Bucs late in the game.

Taylor Fisher was 2-for-4 for Gardner-Webb and scored the game's only run. Fisher tripled and scored on a Justin Kunz double in the sixth.

First pitch was delayed by 30 minutes by rain, but took less than two hours to play.
