Bucs in 12th, Thompson T-16th, after day one of UNF Collegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Charleston Southern's Shelby Thompson and Hayley McNeill both sit in the top-25 of the field through 36 holes of the University of North Florida Collegiate at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.

Thompson (76-74-150 (+6)) and McNeil (73-78-151 (+7)) are T-16th and T-25th, respectively, in the 87-player field. CSU was in ninth place following the morning 18, but fell to 12th in the afternoon. The Bucs are at +41 617, nine shots back of a tie for tenth between Virginia Tech and Murray State. Third round play begins Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.

Memphis and Old Dominion are tied for the lead at +20 596, two shots clear of Campbell and Daytona State College. Eastern Kentucky trails by only three strokes, while Southern Mississippi is five behind. Old Dominion's Sana Tufail posted back-to-back 70's and is two strokes ahead of Campbell's Annelie Sjoholm for the individual lead.

McNeill mostly picked up where she left off last week at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic with a first round 73. The junior had three birdies, including two on the front nine to erase a double bogey at the par-four fourth. Thompson rebounded from a 76 to get closer to par at 74 in round two. She birdied three of her first five holes, including numbers 17 and 18 back-to-back.

Hannah Barger, Emelie Flink and Milleina Ohara rounded out the lineup for coach Matt Cram-Smith's squad. Barger and Flink each recorded opening round 78's.
