JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Sidney Doherty scored on a penalty kick in the 61st minute for the first  goal of the game before Jacksonville rallied for a pair of goals to hand Charleston Southern a 2-1 loss in the season opener on Friday night.

Kyra Cloutier tied it for the Dolphins in the 78th minute, and Joelle D'Entremont gave Jacksonville the lead just eight minutes later. Both goals came on long arcing shots with the Cloutier ball deflecting in off the post.

Turning Point
With the game tied 1-1, Jacksonville continued to put pressure on the CSU defense. The Dolphins had three shots with Alyssa Dellacqua stopping two of them before D'Entremont was able to tuck one in under the crossbar with just over four minutes left in the game.

Inside the Numbers

• Jacksonville held a 15-9 advantage in shots including 8-3 on goal. The Dolphins also took six corner kicks to two for the Bucs.
• Doherty led CSU with three shots with Jazzin Clark and freshman Kayla Robinson recording two. 
• Dellacqua made six saves for CSU while Micaela Mackay was forced to make only two saves for Jacksonville.

News and Notes

• After Friday's loss, the Bucs lead the all-time series against Jacksonville by a 3-2 margin.
• Freshmen Juliana Barbaccia and Chloe Sherry were in the CSU starting lineup. Other newcomers making their college debuts included Robinson, Kylie Doster, Kat Klingensmith and Emily Crevani.
• Doherty's penalty kick was the first for the Bucs since Lydia Frierson converted against Winthrop on October 14, 2015.
