Weekley's Quality Start Leads Bucs to Win

Box Score

Boiling Springs, N.C. - Tyler Weekley made his third quality start of the season, allowing just one run in seven and two-thirds innings, to lead Charleston Southern (16-32, 7-17) to a 4-1 win over Gardner-Webb (27-23, 12-11) on Saturday.

Tyler Weekley (3-6) exited the game in the eighth after working seven and two-thirds innings and allowing one run on seven hits, no walks, and six strikeouts. Weekley's only trouble came in the third inning, when he allowed one run on three hits. The junior didn't allow more than one hit in any other inning and showed good control, throwing 71 of his 105 pitches for strikes.

The Bucs' batters provided adequate run support for Weekley with two, two-run innings. Ryan Stoudemire started the fourth inning with a solo home run. Christian Maggio followed him with a single and later took second on a wild pitch. The next batter, Aaron Miller, drove him in with a single to give CSU a 2-1 lead.

In the sixth inning, Maggio and Miller lead off the inning with back-to-back walks. Derek Horton would later double and allow both to score and push CSU's lead to 4-1.

Langdon Wilson (2-2) took the loss for Gardner-Webb. He pitched three innings with three hits, two runs, two walks, and three strikeouts.

Wil Hartsell (1) picked up the save for CSU, pitching a scoreless ninth inning with one hit and two strikeouts.
