CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern closes their 2019 calendar year with a home matchup with Piedmont International seeking a 4-1 month of December and fifth win in their past six contests.

The Bucs made it back-to-back Saturday wins their last time out taking down Eastern Kentucky on the road shooting nearly 70% in the first half and a near triple-double from All-Big South guard Phlandrous Fleming Jr.

CSU leads the series 1-0 after a 111-65 victory last season in the nonconference finale as four players finished in double figures in the win. Fleming led all with 17 while Deontaye Buskey added 14 and each of Dontrell Shuler, Duncan LeXander, Ty Jones and Nate Louis added eight points. Every returning Buccaneer from last season played at least 10 minutes in the win and found the scoring column.

CSU has a chance to reach the .500 mark once again after a tough November slate that sent the Bucs on the road for nearly a full month with tops at Dayton, Michigan State and East Tennessee State for a pair of games at the Maui on the Mainlands tournament.

Saturday begins a stretch where four of the next five will be played inside the confines of Buccaneer Field House including three of the first four Big South contests.

Scouting The Bruins
  • Piedmont International enters Saturday at 2-8 overall with a pair of wins over NCCAA foe Virginia-Lynchburg and Clinton College.
  • The Bruins are fresh off a 14-day layoff after their road win at Clinton College playing four December contests between Dec. 1 and Dec. 14.
  • After Saturday's game, the Bruins only have 11 games left on the slate and CSU is the lone Division-I opponent on their 2019-20 schedule.
A Win on Saturday Would…
  • Move the Bucs to .500 entering Big South play
  • Cap a 4-1 December including a perfect 2-0 at home
  • Give the Bucs three-straight Saturday wins
  • Give CSU the 2-0 advantage in series history
  • Be the fifth over the past six contests for CSU
  • Give the Bucs the second-most nonconference wins among Big South teams
  • Move CSU to 3-1 at home this season before three of the first four Big South games come inside the Buc Dome
How Sweet It Is
  • Charleston Southern men's basketball has a tradition of stopping for milkshakes and ice cream after every road win.
  • The Bucs have turned in three milkshake stops in their last four trips defeating Delaware State on a neutral floor then downing Missouri of the SEC and Eastern Kentucky to close the December road slate
  • It's been a long-time tradition for the Bucs under head coach Barclay Radebaugh that has seen a pair of Power 5 wins during his tenure after their latest road magic at Mizzou.
