Smith and Beeck under par to pace Bucs on final day of Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Alan Smith carded the low round for Charleston Southern on the final day of the Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate, while Tyler Beeck finished in the top-10 in the event as the Buccaneers placed fifth overall at the event held at the Oak Point Golf Club on Kiawah Island.

The Bucs (+5) bounced back from a tough opening round to post back-to-back rounds under-par to finish fifth overall in the field and first among Big South schools competing in the three-day event. CSU topped Winthrop, High Point (ranked No. 10 in the Golfweek rankings) and USC Upstate in their first tournament of the season and continued a strong start to the 2021 spring season under head coach Jason Payne.

Beeck was tied for first in the field throughout the first four holes on the day before settling for a final round 71 (-1). His three-round score of 211 (-5) put him in a four-way tie for seventh overall in his first action with the Buccaneers.

Smith put together the low-round of the day for the Bucs with a 70 (-2). The junior birdied the ninth, 11th, 14th, and 17th holes on the day to wrap up the three rounds and put him tied for 30th overall in the field at 211 (+5).

Ben Carroll finished 35th overall in the field following his final-round 73 (+1). The sophomore birdied the first, third, 12th, and 17th holes to put his three round score at 222 (+6) in the tournament.

Parker Jones finished one stroke back of his teammate in a tie for 36th in the field following his final-round 73 (+1). Jones' three-round score of 223 (+7) featured a birdie on the sixth hole, as well as the Bucs' lone eagle of the tournament on the par-5 17th.

Colin Trahan turned in a 72 (Even) to put his scorecard on the board for the Bucs on the final day. His three-round score of 224 (+8) put him in a tie for 39th in the field.

Keegan Vaugh closed out the tournament with a final-round 80 (+8) to round out the Bucs in the tournament field. The freshman finished 50th overall with a three-round score of 230 (+14).
