BUC NOTES AND STORYLINES
• It's Homecoming week at Charleston Southern, as it returns home for three of the next four starting with the last night game, playing host to Hampton at 6 p.m. Saturday.
• The Buccaneers will be looking to snap a three-game skid after opening the campaign with a 38-21 victory at The Citadel Sept. 11.
• CSU will be looking to extend its win streak in the series with the Pirates to three-in-a-row, although the two sides have not met since 2019.
• Despite the recent setbacks, both of the last-two losses have been by one score or less and the Bucs are just -5.0 in scoring margin overall, this fall.
• Quarterback
Jack Chambers continues to be CSU's leading rusher, carrying the ball 64 times for 234 yards and three touchdowns. He has added 1193 yards through the air, completing 96-of-164 passes and eight more touchdowns, for over 1400 yards of total offense.
• Middle linebacker
Garrett Sayegh tops the squad with 35 tackles, 19 of which have been solo stops. He's fourth among his teammates with 4.5 tackles for loss.
•
Justin McIntire is nipping at his heels with 34 tackles (14 solo), while
Shaundre Mims is third with 26 stops.
•
Jerome Rice III sets the tone with 6.5 tackles for loss, edging out
John Chiaramonte Jr. who has 6.0. Mims leads the way, however, in yards for loss on his tackles with 5.0 for 37 yards.
• Charleston Southern remains sharp when it enters the red zone, scoring on 8-of-10 opportunities with seven of those being touchdowns.
