BUC NOTES AND STORYLINES
• Big South play comes to a close in 2021 for Charleston Southern Saturday, as the Buccaneers head to Boiling Springs, North Carolina, for a clash with Gardner-Webb.
• Senior Day didn't go as planned for the Bucs last week, as they rallied with 15 points in the fourth quarter to fall just shy of completing an attempted comeback against North Carolina A&T.
• Defensive lineman
Shaundre Mims put himself in some elite company Saturday, joining Anthony Ellis (2014-17) as the only players in CSU history with 20-plus sacks. Ellis holds the all-time mark with 25 but Mims is closing the gap, now with 20.5 in his Bucs career.
• Mims also secured his first interception in the North Carolina A&T contest, picking off a Jalen Fowler third-quarter pass. He joined
Kamron Smith as CSU players with their first career INTs Saturday.
• Despite only 150 passing yards Saturday, quarterback
Jack Chambers leapfrogged three others on his way to fifth place on the school's single-season list with a career-high 2,149 yards in 2021. He enters the final two games of his career just over 500 shy of the standard set in 2006 by Collin Drafts.
• Chambers' primary target this fall has been
Geoffrey Wall, as the pair has connected for 50 completions. Wall became the first Buccaneers receiver to haul in 50 catches in a single season since Gerald Stevenson in 2010.
• Three more grabs by
Cayden Jordan will also give him 50, and making the duo only the second to do so at CSU and the first since 2004.
