Buc Notes: CSU heads to UGA to face top-ranked Bulldogs

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern football will put a cap on its 2021 season when it travels to Athens, Georgia, for a Noon Saturday kickoff at consensus and unanimous FBS No. 1 Georgia. The contest, which will be the second time in school history the Bucs are facing the top-ranked FBS program, can be seen on SEC Network+ and ESPN+.

BUC NOTES AND STORYLINES
• Charleston Southern will close its 2021 season with its second-ever meeting with Georgia, facing the FBS No. 1-ranked Bulldogs on SEC Network+ and ESPN+.
• The Buccaneers are coming off a 32-24 double-overtime win at Gardner-Webb, their first time playing beyond regulation this fall and the first double-overtime contest since 2016.
• Charleston Southern's offense is engineered by quarterback Jack Chambers, who not only has passed for 2,435 yards -- the fourth-most in a season in school history -- but also has run for a team-best 477 yards.
• The receivers are led by Geoffrey Wall and Cayden Jordan, who have 62 and 52 catches, respectively. Garris Schwarting is next with 45 and Demetrius Jones also has 30 grabs, this fall.
• Defensively, middle linebacker Garrett Sayegh sets the tone with 87 tackles, eight of which have been for a loss of 23 yards.
• Shaundre Mims paces the squad with eight sacks and 16.5 TFL and Hombre Kennedy has secured a team-high three interceptions, the most by any Bucs player under head coach Autry Denson and the most since James Allen's record-tying six in 2018.
• Special teams turns to Sam Babbush for all six of its field goals, including a 35-yarder in Saturday's first overtime, while Miller Braddock's 39.4 punt average ranks as the tops in his career.
• Saturday's contest will mark the third FBS opponent CSU has faced under Autry Denson (0-2), the second this year (at East Carolina, Sept. 25) and the 25th overall in program history (0-24).
