Charleston Southern tennis returns to Big South play as the final stretch of the season hits beginning Friday afternoon in the Commonwealth of Virginia against Longwood and Radford.
Khyanna Singh paces the Bucs with a 6-4 record in singles play as a freshman while
Zoe Cauthen carries a three-match win streak into the weekend. Cauthen and
Tiffany Pyritz have been close to perfect in doubles play holding a 7-2 record overall with five of their seven victories at the second flight.
Charleston Southern owns the all-time series lead over Longwood by a 7-0 margin having won every match by at least a 5-0 score. All seven matches between the Bucs and Lancers have come since Longwood joined the Big South as CSU has won all four matchups in Farmville. Friday also marks the fourth time over the last five matchups Longwood has hosted the Bucs.
Longwood is led in singles play by the trio of Emma Nurgazieva, Maria Saez and Adelaide Thuilot who each hold a 4-5 record. Saez leads the way in doubles sporting a 5-5 record while three other Lancers have picked up a doubles win on their respective courts.
In their last meeting,
Madalina Man,
Michelle Schmitz and
Tiffany Pyritz all collected singles wins in straight-sets while Man and Pyritz led the top doubles flight when the doubles point had been clinched.
Saturday sees the Bucs and Highlanders of Radford in a matchup of two Big South founding members as CSU holds the advantage 26-5 in the all-time series and impressive 11-1 mark in the New River Valley. Charleston Southern also owns a 14-match win streak over the Highlanders dating back to the 2009 season collecting at least five of the seven points in each of the last six meetings.
Radford is led in singles play by Salma Loudili's 8-3 record (3-0 in Big South play) and Malin Falk's 7-4 overall mark with a 2-1 record in Big South matches. Tyler Blalock and Katey Fruehauf pace the doubles lineup with a 7-3 mark on the third flight while Emily Brandow and Falk have a 6-4 record in the second flight.
Friday's action in Farmville begins at Noon while Saturday's match is set for 2 p.m.
