Box Score 2 CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern won its first conference series of the season Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader split against Gardner-Webb at the CSU Softball Field.
The visiting Runnin' Bulldogs won the first game in eight innings, 6-3, while the Bucs took the series finale in five innings, 9-1.
Ashley Meckley hit her team-leading eighth homer of the season in the first game, while
SeaEnna Satcher also went yard in the doubleheader opener for her third of the season.
Alyssa Heinrich got the start and allowed two runs in five innings.
Ashlyn Cribb went a career-best 3-for-3 with four RBI's in the second game, while six different Bucs had at least one hit.
Holly Clark pitched all five innings, allowing one run on three hits for her second complete game win of the season.
The Bucs had an early lead in the first game on Satcher's homer, then took the lead back on Meckley's fifth-inning homer. The Runnin' Bulldogs tied the game with a run in the sixth and scored three in extra innings to take the first game of the day.
CSU got off to a quick start in the second game, as a Cribb RBI single and a GWU error plated two Buccaneer runs in the second inning. CSU added to its lead in the fourth on a two-run double off the bat of Cribb. GWU got a run back in the fifth on a solo homer, but the Bucs scored five in the bottom half of the inning to end the game.

Meghan Gagliano and Cribb each drove in a run in the inning, with Cribb's second double of the game driving in the game-ending run.

- GWU took the lead in the fourth on an Andrea Lyon two-run homer.

- CSU's nine runs scored in the second game are a season high, surpassing the Bucs' previous high of eight.
- Clark's complete game in the second game was her second complete game win of the season.
- Clark's three hits allowed tied Baylee Eaton for the fewest by a Buc pitcher in a complete game this season.
- Brooklynn Brewington recorded her ninth multi-hit game of the season in the first game.
- Koger had a season-high three walks in the second game without recording an at-bat. The three walks are the most by a Buccaneer in a single game this season.
- This was the first Big South series win for the Bucs under first-year head coach Christi Musser.
- Katelyn Norris made her first start of the season since the Presbyterian series in the second game and was 1-for-3.
- CSU had 16 hits across the two games Saturday, recording eight in each game.
- Charleston Southern honored seniors Meghan Gagliano, Holly Clark, Alyssa Heinrich and Dominique Mannerino following the doubleheader.

Charleston Southern hits the road for a midweek doubleheader Tuesday at Georgia Southern. The games, which are slated to begin at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., will be the first outside the state of South Carolina for the Bucs.
