Bucs rally for series-opening win over Gardner-Webb

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern scored three runs across the fourth and fifth innings Friday evening, coming back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Gardner-Webb, 3-2, at the CSU Softball Field.

SeaEnna Satcher had two hits for the Bucs, while Sarah Brown had the lone RBI for CSU. CSU had six hits as a team, with all six coming in the fourth inning or later. Annah Junge picked up her first win of the season with 3.0 hitless innings. Baylee Eaton got the start in the circle for the Bucs and had two strikeouts in 4.0 innings, allowing four hits and two runs.

Gardner-Webb opened the scoring in the fourth inning with back-to-back solo homers after the Bucs and Runnin' Bulldogs combined for just two hits in the first three innings. CSU responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, as Sarah Brown hit an RBI single and a Runnin' Bulldog throwing error allowed the game-tying run to score.

The Bucs went ahead in the fifth inning after another errant GWU throw, this one with the bases loaded after a Satcher single, plated Madison Koger. Junge allowed just one baserunner in the final two innings to seal the series-opening victory.
