Women’s Tennis Serves Season Opener with Wofford

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The 2022 dual match campaign for the Charleston Southern women's tennis program will get underway Thursday with a non-conference affair with Wofford. The action is set for a 1:00 p.m. start at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center.

THE PROCESS STARTS NOW
Fourth-year head coach Anca Dumitrescu returns five of her six that topped Radford to claim the Big South Tournament Championship a season ago and finished with a perfect 6-0 league record. Madalina ManLuiza FullanaKhyanna SinghZoe Cauthen and Tiffany Pyritz are all back from a season ago. Clemson transfer Laura Marti adds depth to the lineup after she joined the program prior to the fall season. She paired with Fullana to form a No. 45 nationally-ranked doubles duo in September.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Wofford has played just one match in the early going, falling 5-2 at home to Kennesaw State on January 14. The Terriers lost the point to KSU in doubles after falling at #2 and #3 with the first match not being finished. On the singles side, Wofford picked up points at #1 and #4, with the remaining matches going the way of Kennesaw State.

SECOND TRY
Both teams have had schedules matches be postponed to start the season, as Charleston Southern was set for a clash with Charlotte earlier in the month that got turned away by winter weather in Charlotte. Wofford was set to see Coastal Carolina this past Sunday, but that match was postponed as well.
