CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern softball fell to UNCW for the second time in as many days as the Seahawks used the long ball to best the Bucs at the CSU Softball Complex. Sunday afternoon's contests marked the end of the CSU Kickoff tournament, where the Bucs saw Toledo three times and UNCW twice in a three-day span.
Charleston Southern (1-4) again stood as the first team to score, as an
Annah Junge single through the left side brought
Erika Cooper around to score in the second. The second frame would be capped off by a sacrifice fly from the bat of
Rhiana Hubbard, bring
SeaEnna Satcher across the plate.Â

UNCW (4-0) would answer back in the bottom of the third, as Janel Gamach left the yard for the third time in the tournament, this time a three-run homer to give the Seahawks the lead. UNCW then used another three-spot in the fourth frame to push things out of reach. Camryn Dean came up big with a two-run bomb before Arial Pearce ended the scoring in the frame with an RBI-single.
Â
Baylee Eaton came into relief for Junge in the fourth frame and finished the contest out, keeping the Seahawks at bay for the rest of the way. The southpaw only surrendered three hits in 2.1 innings of work, striking out two along the way.
The Bucs left runners on base in every frame except the second and fourth frames, and ended the contest out-hitting UNCW 8-7.
