CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern men's basketball snapped a five-game losing streak with a convincing win over Toccoa Falls Monday night at the Buc Dome. The 97-60 win marks the third-highest point total the Bucs have reached this season.
THREES FOR DAYS
Charleston Southern (5-18) found much success from the three point line in tonight's contest, falling just two short of matching the program mark of 20, three from surpassing it. 12 of the 18 came in the opening stanza with 10 of those coming from
Tahlik Chavez (4),
Claudell Harris Jr. (3) and
Deontaye Buskey (3).Â
Â
The previous season high from behind the line came against Clemson back in November, as the Bucs hit 12 in Littlejohn Coliseum. The 18 treys tonight mark the most since the 2019 campaign, when CSU hit 17 against Big South member Presbyterian.
POINTS 'APLENTYÂ
The Bucs saw four different players in double figures for the second time in two weeks, as Buskey (17), Harris Jr. (15), Chavez (15) and Clinton (10) followed the suit set by
Cheikh Faye,
Taje' Kelly,
Ja'Quavian Florence and Buskey against Hampton.
Â
Buskey finished the night as the leading scorer for CSU, finishing with 17 points to match a season-high set in the second game of the year at Ole Miss.
Â
Jacob Shadders recorded the first field goal of his career for Charleston Southern, finishing 1-1 from the field in six minutes off of the bench.
NOTEWORTHY LINES
