Big South series at CSU Softball Complex next for Bucs

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern softball will return home for its second-straight Big South series this weekend, playing host to Longwood in an adjusted schedule due to inclement weather in the Lowcountry forecast. The two league foes will now meet in a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. and a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday with a potential shift to earlier depending on Saturday's weather forecast.

TWO AT HOME TO OPEN LEAGUE CALENDAR
The Buccaneers are home for the second-straight weekend to begin their conference schedule after playing host to preseason favorite Campbell last weekend at CSU Softball Complex. Charleston Southern (9-14, 1-2 Big South) claimed a win in the first game of the series.

LOOKING TO SNAP SKID
A four-game slide for the Bucs takes the team into the weekend, as it will be seeking to get back in the win column after dropping both games of a doubleheader at Coastal Carolina Tuesday. The last time CSU had dropped four-in-a-row, it bounced back with a weekend three-game sweep over Mercer.

HOT BATS FROM LEWIS
Designated player Raleigh Lewis returned to the lineup over the weekend from injury and made an immediate impact, batting .400 with a .900 slugging percentage and .455 on-base percentage. She hit two doubles in the victory over Campbell, while adding a home run in game one of Sunday's doubleheader.

KOGER PROVIDES SPARK VERSUS CHANTICLEERS
Second baseman Madison Koger finished the doubleheader at Coastal Carolina with a .400 batting average, including a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning in game one to force extra innings. She also drove in the team's only run in the second contest of the twinbill. On the season, she shares the team lead in home runs (four) with Lewis and SeaEnna Satcher.

SCOUTING LONGWOOD
The Lancers have lost their last two to enter the weekend with a 7-15 overall and 1-2 league ledger. They claimed a season-opening win at USC Upstate last weekend before dropping each of the next-two games by two runs each. Longwood, who will play host to the Big South Championships, May 11-14, is led by second-year head coach Dr. Megan Brown.

SERIES HISTORY
The teams have clashed 36 times over the years, first meeting in 1988. Charleston Southern last earned a triumph in the series opener last spring in Farmville, Virginia, garnering a 4-1 win.
