Midweek doubleheader opens extended homestand

CHARLESTON, S.C. – A seven-game homestand, featuring two non-conference doubleheaders as well as a weekend Big South series, opens Wednesday afternoon for the Charleston Southern softball program. The Buccaneers will play host to South Carolina State beginning at 3 p.m. with both contests broadcast on ESPN+.

The seven-straight contests at CSU Softball Complex mark the longest since the back-to-back tournaments opened the campaign in mid-February. It will be the most consecutive home games for the program the rest of the spring.

LATCHING ONTO MOMENTUM
The Bucs improved to 12-17 overall after sweeping a Saturday doubleheader against Gardner-Webb. CSU claimed the victories by 5-4 and 3-1 scores to earn its first Big South series win of the season.

GOING DEEP

UNDER 2.00
Ace hurler Annah Junge has lowered her season ERA to 1.96 after tossing her ninth complete game of the campaign in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. She leads the squad in several categories, including wins (8), innings pitched (96.1), strikeouts (68) and WHIP (1.34).

SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
The Bulldogs are currently 3-20 on the season but just garnered a pair of MEAC wins over North Carolina Central and Delaware State recently. They also picked up a victory over Florida A&M during the Alabama State HBCU Tournament in late February.

Charleston Southern leads the all-time series 30-5, including triumphs in the last-eight meetings. When the games have been played in the Holy City, the Buccaneers are 14-1 against the Bulldogs, although eight of the last-nine tilts have been in Orangeburg.
