CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern softball will continue its Big South slate and seven-game homestand this weekend when it plays host to Presbyterian at CSU Softball Complex, Friday and Saturday. The two league foes square off in a single game Friday, at 5 p.m. on ESPN+, before continuing with Saturday's doubleheader, which starts at 1 p.m.
THIRD OF FOUR
While the weekend marks the fourth overall Big South series for the Buccaneers, it's the third in which they will be playing at their home field to begin the calendar. CSU also welcomed Campbell and Longwood to town this spring, while the only trip has been to Gardner-Webb. Through the three series thus far, the Bucs are 4-5 in league play.
WIN STREAK TO FOUR
Charleston Southern enters the weekend with four-straight triumphs in its pocket, improving to 14-17 overall this spring. The Buccaneers have swept each of the last-two doubleheaders in which they played, Saturday at Gardner-Webb to claim the league series and a Wednesday home non-conference set against South Carolina State. The four-game win streak matches the longest of the season, as CSU also reached the mark by sweeping a three-game series with Mercer before taking the opening contest of the home league-opening series with Campbell.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Bucs have already accumulated 10 home victories, their most at CSU Softball Complex since also having 10 in 2019. In 2018, Charleston Southern won 20 of its games on the home field, which included a sweep over Presbyterian during league action.
SCOUTING PC
The Blue Hose own a 20-7 overall and 6-3 league ledger heading into the weekend, one game out of first place in the conference standings. Two of those Big South losses came last week at Campbell after it had swept Hampton at home the previous weekend under fourth-year head coach David Williams. The contests at Campbell represent the only true away games this spring for Presbyterian.
SERIES HISTORY
The Buccaneers lead the all-time series 29-18 with triumphs in seven of the last-nine matchups, including four shutout wins. CSU owns two recent sweeps over its in-state league opponent, including the aforementioned 2018 home series and a 2019 set in Clinton, South Carolina.
