COLUMBIA, S.C. – Although only eight Charleston Southern student-athletes competed Saturday at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, the Buccaneers earned seven personal records for their results, including multiple by
Cooper Edenfield.
DUAL PR FOR EDENFIELD
The only member of the group who traveled to the state capital to garner multiple personal records, Edenfield did so in the 100 meters (11.53) and 200 meters (23.91). He was one of six Bucs to compete in more than one event throughout the day.
BLADER COLLECTS HIGHEST FINISH
The best result of the meet for CSU came in the 1500 meters invitational section, as
Max Blader clocked a personal-record 3:58.34 to place fourth among the dozen runners. He held off teammate
Jordan Smith in the event, as Smith registered a ninth-place time of 4:04.32.
FULL PRS IN THE 200
All three Buccaneers who ran in the 200-mter dash set new personal records among the large field of 105 runners.
Shawn Langley Jr. was the first Charleston Southern runner across the finish line, in 18th (21.50) followed by Edenfield and
Matthew Eaton in 98th (24.22).
LONE BUC IN THE FIELD EVENTS
Holden Gerth was the only member of the squad to participate in field events Saturday, raising the bar to 1.95m (6'4.75") in the high jump to slot seventh and leap to a height of 3.80m (12'5.5") for a personal record in the pole vault, the first attempt in the event by any CSU student-athlete during the 2022 outdoor campaign.
UP NEXT
Charleston Southern will return to action with a contingent heading to Atlanta Friday and Saturday for the Yellow Jacket Invitational, a meet play hosted by Georgia Tech.
