Women's Tennis Looks for Second-Straight Perfect Big South Campaign

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern women's tennis finishes out the regular season portion of the 2022 Big South campaign with two matches at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center. The Buccaneers clinch at least a share of the regular season crown with a win in either match as wins in both will hand CSU the outright title.

Saturday's match will see UNC Asheville, as team that Charleston Southern has seen much success over. Out of the 24 total meetings, the Bucs have won 22 including a perfect 13-0 record in the Holy City. Last year's meeting came on the final matchday of the regular season, as Charleston Southern completed the perfect conference season with a 5-2 result on the road. The action is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.

Sunday will feature a clash with Radford, as the two sides met in the Big South Championships title match a season ago where Charleston Southern was able to take the crown with a 4-1 result. The Highlanders are another team CSU has found much success with, taking 28 of the possible 33 meetings, including the last 16. With Sunday being Senior Day, the festivities will start at approximately 12:40 p.m. with the match slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.

Prior to Sunday's match, Charleston Southern will honor Tiffany Pyritz for Senior Day, as the Team Captain will be celebrated by Head Coach Anca Dumitrescu and her bunch. Pyritz sports a 10-1 overall record in singles play this year and a 6-5 record in doubles play with Zoe Cauthen. A 4-0 Big South record is sported by Pyritz in singles play and she and Cauthen have combined for a 1-0 record in doubles.

With a win in either match, Charleston Southern will clinch at least a share of the regular season Big South crown for the second year in a row as they own the head-to-head tiebreak with Campbell. A win in both matches will clinch a perfect Big South Season for the second-straight year, a second-straight regular season crown and the second-straight year the Bucs will be the top seed in the Big South Championships.
