CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charleston Southern's
Ryan Waldschmidt has earned Big South Co-Freshman of the Week plaudits for May 23, the league office has announced. It marks the first honor of his career and second for a CSU player, this season.
WHEN IT COUNTS
In a must-win series, Waldschmidt left nothing up to chance as the freshman had the best week of his season, doing damage in every facet of the game. Walks, extra-base hits, driving in runs, making spectacular plays, Waldschmidt shined all weekend en route to Charleston Southern clinching its highest seed in the Big South Tournament since 2011.
The Tampa, Florida native went 6-10 in three games, driving in seven runs while scoring five of his own. Waldschmidt was also successful on the base path, drawing four walks and swiping four bags along the way in a dominate weekend.
