CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern opens its 2022 soccer season Thursday afternoon with a 2 p.m. game against Brewton-Parker at the CSU Soccer Field.
Admission to all CSU soccer games is free. The game will not be streamed but
live stats will be available.
The Buccaneers return reigning Big South Goalkeeper of the Year
Jenna Moran and six field players who started at least 12 games. Moran recorded six shutouts last season, including five in Big South play, and was second in the league with an 0.95 goals against average.
Jenea Knight and
Erin Rush joined Moran in starting all 15 games in 2021, with Rush earning second team All-Big South honors and Knight making the all-freshman team. Knight led the Bucs with four goals and eight points, and Rush tied for the team lead with three assists.
Bri Robinson finished third on the squad with six points on two goals and two assists.
Lauren McDonald was an anchor in the midfield and helped CSU rank as one of the top defensive teams in the Big South. She also added a goal against regular season champion Campbell.
Thursday's game marks the first-ever meeting between CSU and Brewton-Parker. The Lady Barons went 10-10 last season. Martina Kadisha led the team with 17 goals and 39 points, and Aurora Miglio had 10 goals and 25 points. Kelsie Stapler posted a 1.89 goals against average in 19 starts.
