Bucs Head to Conway to Face the Chanticleers

CHARLESTON, S.C. - After picking up their first win of the season against Queens last week, the Charleston Southern women's tennis team is back in action on Tuesday, as they head to Conway, S.C. to take on the Chanticleers. The match is set for a noon start time.

Originally scheduled for February 10th, the match was moved to Tuesday due to inclement weather. This will be the 37th overall meeting between Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers lead the series 24-12. The last time that these two teams faced off was in 2021, when the Chanticleers bested the Bucs 6-1.

The Chanticleers are 0-1 on the season, falling 5-2 to The College of Charleston on February 8th. Under the direction of Head Coach Catherine Hewitt, Coastal Carolina has posted 10 winning seasons in the past 11 years. Last year, the Chanticleers posted a 13-9 (7-3 in conference).

They placed fourth overall in the Sun Belt Conference regular-season standings and advanced to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Championship Tournament. With Hewitt leading the charge, CCU had its best season in 2015, when they won the Sunbelt regular-season championship.

Charleston Southern (1-3), who was picked to win the Big South for the third-straight year, looks to continue to build on their success during the 2023 spring season. In their past two matches, they have taken the doubles set, and took the match 6-1 against Queens.

Luiza Fullana and Khyanna Singh are 2-1 in doubles this season, and have the best record on the team. Both girls also swept their singles matches against the Royals a week ago. The Bucs had three sweeps overall in singles, with Kassandra Di Staulo won her sets 6-0 and 6-1.
