Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern softball team picked up their sixth win of the season on Sunday, as they defeated the Towson Tigers 3-2 in the rubber game of a three-game series at the CSU Softball Complex.
Annah Junge picked up her fifth win of the season, and the Bucs (6-5) got some late magic offensively behind a solo home run by
Lexi Markle.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, down 2-1, Markle hit her first home run of the season to tie the game at two. The next batter,
Weslin Jones, followed that up with a bunt single and reached second on a wild pitch. She scored the go-ahead run, as
Ashley Meckley singled to center field to give the Bucs the 3-2 lead.
The Tigers (4-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a pair of two-out hits. After that, Junge settled in and threw six-shutout innings.
The Bucs were shut out for the first three innings against starting pitcher Maddie Gardner, but were able to get to her in the bottom of the fourth. Jones reached on a bunt single to start the inning and stole second base. Then, Meckley followed that up with an RBI single to cut the deficit to one. Meckley advanced to second on the throw.
With today's complete-game performance, the reigning Big South Pitcher of the Week, Junge improved to 5-1 on the season. This was her second complete game of the series and her fifth complete game of the season. She went 7.0 innings, allowing 2 runs, 6 hits and struck out 6.
The Bucs had a season-high 10 hits on the afternoon, led by Meckley, who knocked in two runs and was 2 for 3 with a walk.
Harper Schoeneweis continued her hot start to the season, as she went 2 for 3 with a walk and stolen base.

Charleston Southern will hit the road next weekend, as they travel to Jacksonville, FL to take on North Florida starting on Friday. They will play four games overall with a doubleheader next Friday and Saturday. The do not play at CSU Softball Complex until March 8
th against UNC Greensboro.
