CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern women's tennis team is back at home on Tuesday, as they host Queens in search of their first win of the Spring season. The match is set for 1 p.m. at Gary Clark Bank Sr. Tennis Center.
This will be the first time that Queens and CSU have faced off against one another. Queens, based in Charlotte, N.C., is also in search of their first win of the season. They come into Tuesday's match with an 0-3 record. Their last match was on Saturday, where they lost 6-1 against UNC Wilmington. A road match with Virginia Tech as well as a home match with Appalachian State is how the season started.
The Royals are led by Head Coach Alex Leatu. She is in her first full season in Charlotte. Prior to being at Queens, Leatu made stops at Weatherford College and Georgia State. In just one year at Weatherford, she recruited a whole new roster and finished in the top 10 in the country with three competitors finishing the season ranked.
The Bucs (0-3) have had a tough schedule to open up the 2023 Spring season. They played against top-10 team in Duke and were swept by UNC Charlotte to start the season, while falling in their first home match to North Florida back on January 29
th. Charleston Southern is looking to gain that momentum that they had the previous three years, where they won the Big South and made it to the NCAA Tournament.
