Softball Shut Out in Day Two of UNF/JU Spring Break Challenge

JACKSONVILLE, FL - After a lengthy rain delay that was over two hours long, the Charleston Southern softball team dropped their lone game on Saturday by a 5-0 score to the Jacksonville Suns. This is the third time that the Bucs (7-7) have been shut out this season and their second in as many games.

The Bucs out-hit the Suns (9-8) 7-6, but were unable to scratch across any runs. Riley Lauffer started for the Bucs and went 2.2 innings and gave up 4 runs on 3 hits. She took the loss to fall to 1-6 on the season. Annah Junge came on in relief for the second time this season, and went 3.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 3.

Cadence Walding got the start behind the plate today and was a bright spot in the Bucs lineup. She went 2 for 3 on the afternoon.

The Suns got to Lauffer in the second and third inning, scoring two each time. After a walk and a single started the bottom of the second, the Suns hit a two-out, two-run triple to make it 2-0. In the third, another extra base hit with two outs made it 4-0.

JU scored one more in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI single to center field to make it 5-0.
