FARMVILLE, VA - The Charleston Southern softball team salvaged a game in their series this weekend with a 1-0 win over the Longwood Lancers on Sunday. The game went into 11 innings.
Ashley Meckley singled home
Madelyne Lee in the top of the 11th inning to give the Bucs (17-22, 6-8 in conference) the 1-0 lead. The Bucs got 10 hits overall on the afternoon, but stranded a season-high 13 baserunners.
Annah Junge pitched all 11.0 innings, allowing 0 runs on 5 hits while striking out 10. She retired the Lancers in order in the bottom of the 11
th inning to help the Bucs avoid the sweep.She improved to 15-7 overall on the season.
Lee went 3 for 4 at the plate, scoring the game's only run. Meckley (2),
Weslin Jones (2) and
Charlee Yourman (2) also had multi-hit games.
On Deck
The Bucs head to Columbia this Wednesday for a doubleheader with the Gamecocks. First pitch will be at 3 p.m. for the first game, and both games can be found on SEC Network+.
