Men's and Women's Cross Country Announces Upcoming 2023 Schedule

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern Cross Country announced their schedule for the upcoming 2023 season. The fall will see the Buccaneers race in four meets prior to competing at the Big South Championships.

The men's team will feature last year's Big South Runner of the Year, Micah Gilpatric, and Freshman of the Year, Zach Wedding. The Bucs have four runners back from their starting seven that won the Big South title for the third consecutive season in 2022.

The women's team brings back six athletes from last year's Big South runner-up performance, the best finish in program history. Among the returners include the trio of Sarah McCartney, Keerstin Augustin and Anne Akagi who all placed in the Top 10 in last year's league championship. The squad will also include nine new runners from as close as Summerville, S.C. all the way to Trowbridge, England.

The season begins with the Bucs hosting the CSU Buccaneer Invitational on Friday, September 1. This marks the fourth year in a row that Charleston Southern's first meet will be contested at home.

CSU returns to action racing at the Furman Invitational on Saturday, September 16 followed by the Louisville Classic on the 30th to finish the action for the month. On October 14, the Bucs will race in the 2023 Pre-Nationals hosted at the University of Virginia, home of the National Championships meet in November.

The Big South Conference Championships will be held October 28 at Radford University. The Southeast Regionals will be hosted by USC Upstate on Friday, November 10 with bids for the NCAA Championships on the line. The National Championship will be contested on November 18.

The start times for each of the meets will be announced during the fall.
