CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern Men's Golf announced the addition of Owen Newberry on National Signing Day. He will join the team ahead of the 2025-2026 season.
Newberry joins the Buccaneers from Crofton, Maryland where he attended Crofton High School. Since being there, he has helped lead the team to a trio of county championships with them coming in 2021, 2022 and 2024.
"We are very excited to welcome Owen to the program," shared Assistant Coach for Men's and Women's Golf,
Ben Carroll. He is a proven player and winner, good student and on top of it all he is a great young man. I really look forward to getting him on campus and seeing all that he will achieve."
As an individual, he has become one of the top players in the state earning the title of 2023 State Champion at the 3A/4A level as well as the 2023 Maryland Junior Amateur Champion. At the county level, he has won each of the past two titles coming in 2023 and 2024 while at the regional level he has claimed the champion honors in 2022 and 2024.
Additionally, he brings a good past in the classroom as he has been selected to the honor roll while at Crofton High School.
