CHARLOTTE – The Big South Conference announced the winners for the men's track and field athletes of the week on Wednesday afternoon with Charleston Southern's Micah Gilpatric claiming an award. He won the Track Athlete of the week award from the league office with this representing his first race in a CSU uniform since the end of the 2023 cross country season.
 
He began the Bucs' indoor season at the Sharon Colyear Season Opener on Saturday at Boston University by running in the 3K at the meet. He recorded a time of 7:55.64, being just seconds off his personal best which stands as the school record. His time from this past weekend would have been the second-best in school history and sixth-fastest in league history.
 
This marks the sixth career Runner of the Week award during his career. Last fall he won a pair of runner of the week awards with them coming on October 4 and October 19.
 
The Bucs will be back in action after Christmas Break as they have their next action on Saturday, January 11 at the Gamecock Opener hosted by South Carolina.
