COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Charleston Southern softball team dropped a non-conference, mid-week affair with No. 22 South Carolina on Tuesday by a 6-0 score.
With two outs in the first inning, Annah Junge surrendered a two-run home run that gave the Gamecocks (23-10) a 2-0 lead. They added one more in the second inning and three in the fifth inning.
Junge took the loss to fall to 4-7 on the season after throwing 5.0 innings allowing six runs on five hits. Nealy Lamb threw the bottom of the sixth inning allowing one hit. The Bucs (14-16, 1-2 in conference) managed just three hits.
Game two was halted in the second inning due to inclement weather. The Bucs, down 1-0 in the second inning, have runners at second and third with one out. It will be made up on April 23.
On Deck
The Bucs continue their 10-game road trip this weekend with a three-game series in Boiling Springs, N.C. against Gardner-Webb. They will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 3 PM, while the final game of the series will be played on Saturday at 12 PM.
