Box Score 2 BOILING SPRING, N.C. - The Charleston Southern softball picked up the series win on Friday with a doubleheader sweep of the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs.
Back-to-back shutouts from
Annah Junge and
Nealy Lamb led the Bucs (16-16, 3-2 in conference) to 1-0 and 3-0 wins in Boiling Springs.
In game one, a
Gracie Prince solo home run in the top of the fifth inning was all that Junge needed, as she allowed just three hits and struck out four in a complete-game performance. She picked up her fifth win of the season to improve to 5-7.
Charleston Southern got the bats going early in game two, as
Carsten Sandvig gave the Bucs a 1-0 first inning lead with an RBI double. The Bucs added one more in the second inning after
BriAnna Brooks brought in
Emma Villaescusa with an RBI single.
The Bucs added one more run in the final inning, as Sandvig picked up her second hit and RBI with a base hit to left field that scored
Madelyne Lee.
Lamb improved to 8-5 on the season with the win. She went 7.0 innings allowing just four hits and striking out six.
On Deck
The Bucs go for the three-game sweep on Saturday, as the series will conclude at 12 PM tomorrow. It will be streamed on ESPN+.
