NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern softball team fell to the Longwood Lancers on Sunday by an 8-3 score in the home finale of the 2024 softball season.
Annah Junge lasted just 1.0 innings allowing two runs on two hits and a walk. She fell to 7-10 on the season. The Lancers (18-31, 11-7 in conference) added to their lead in the top of the third inning, as they loaded the bases with two outs and knocked in two runs with a base hit to centerfield.
The Bucs (23-24, 9-8 in conference) scored in the third and fourth inning, starting with an RBI single by
Madelyne Lee that scored Blakely Kingsmore who pinch ran for
Charlee Yourman. In the fourth inning, after a
Carsten Sandvig double,
BriAnna Brooks brought her home with an RBI single, but she was thrown out at second base trying to advance on the throw from the outfield.
Longwood kept adding runs, as they scored in five of the seven innings played. They hit two home runs on the afternoon, including one in the seventh inning to make it 8-2.
Riley Lauffer threw the final 6.0 innings for the Bucs, allowing six runs on nine hits. Six different Buccaneers picked up hits on the afternoon.

After their final series of the season, Charleston Southern currently sits No. 3 in the Big South standings behind Longwood and USC Upstate. They will find out next weekend who they will play in the Big South Tournament May 9-11.
